completely custom
Artisan takes a fully custom approach to all our projects. This means we don't maintain a plan book of home designs and finishes that you can pick from. We can work with you and your architect to ensure the design you are developing stays within your budget, or our in-house team can help you to define and conceptualize ways to achieve your goal before engaging an architect.
Our approach to the design-build process begins with a meeting to discuss your vision. We have an open conversation to be certain all parties understand the vision, entire process, and end the goal. We want to hear exactly what you are hoping to achieve in your space. First, we listen. Then we'll discuss your needs and how to bring them to fruition.

THE VIRTUAL PROJECT
During the design process, we take the information we’ve gathered from you and through our field surveys to create conceptual design options for your consideration. We will generally present these options in the form of sketches, so you can visualize the different routes your project could take. We will also an in house "ballpark" budget to each option to aid you in selecting a design that meets both your aesthetic preferences and cost requirements.
We will be happy to work with you under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for design services to refine the concept and obtain more accurate costs that reflect the final finish selections. We can provide 3-D renderings, schematic designs and even interior design. You will be able to see your project come to life before construction begins.

staying within your budget
While we do model in 3-D, we know you only truly understand the space when you step inside it. Unfortunately, there are times that the cost of the project doesn't fit within the budget. We'll try to determine if this is going to be an issue in our initial meeting, but often the answer isn't black and white. We're happy to work through the first phase of pricing even when it's grey. Once that's complete we can work with you to value engineer the project as part of the design process. In this step, our goal is to work with you to define your priorities, not to simply reduce the cost. Phasing of the work, scope reduction, and other options exist as ways we can help achieve the perfect balance of cost, craftsmanship, and schedule for your needs. We recognize that you are the best person to know what will work for your life and we want to partner with you to achieve that.
Building Green
We believe green building is a philosophical approach to building for those who accept their responsibility for the environment that all of us share. What began as a keen interest in energy efficient buildings has evolved into much more. Low energy usage is only one aspect of green building. You are likely to find comments about energy efficiency, sustainable materials, recycled materials, easily renewable resources, indoor air quality, healthy indoor environment, low water usage, and waste management during construction, and similar buzz words when asking people what they believe makes a green building. You can incorporate many green building principles for no or very little additional costs in your project. Our staff is experienced in LEED, EarthCraft, and other green building certification programs. All of our residential homes are built to EarthCraft standards. Additionally, we have a LEED-accredited individual on our staff. We invite you to contact us to discuss the areas of green building we embrace in more depth.
